The Right Way to Wear a Helmet
There is a right and a wrong way to wear a helmet.
Not many people realize it, but simply wearing a helmet is often not enough. You need to know how to wear it correctly in order for it to provide you with an adequate amount of protection. At Skate Ratz, not only do we offer high-quality skateboard safety gear in Loveland, we also want to help you get the most out of it! That's why our experts have come up with this guide on how to wear a helmet the right way:
Size
When it comes to helmets, one size doesn't always fit all. Luckily, most helmets come with sizing pads or a universal fit ring, which you can use to adjust your helmet to fit your head. Your helmet should fit snugly and should not move from side to side.
Position
Your helmet should sit low on your forehead, about the width of two fingers above your eyebrows.
Buckles
The buckle should be centered under your chin, and the straps should be tight enough that the helmet doesn't move around when you move your head. No more than two fingers should be able to slide under the strap.
Side Straps
The side straps should make a "V" shape situated under and in front of each of your ears. Always lock the slider if you are able to do so.
How you wear your helmet is just as important as wearing one at all. If you have questions or concerns about how to properly wear a helmet, please contact us! We are always happy to help!
