Skate Shop Loveland: Why Skate Safety Gear Is Important
Let's face it - no matter how old you are - there's something that's just undeniably cool about skating. However, skating can also be an easy way to injure yourself, especially if you're skating in the wrong place or you're not wearing the proper protective gear. Here at your trusted Loveland skate shop, we're here to give you some safety tips to reduce your risk of injury.
Firstly, let's take a look at why safety is important. If you think about it, every time you get on your board or lace up your skates, you're taking a chance at falling and getting hurt or even worse - ending up in the emergency room. While beginners and kids are the most at risk for injury when skating, even experienced skaters can get hurt, too!
While it may seem like all you need to get started skating is a board and a good attitude, there are a few other necessities you'll need.
Helmet: You need to get a helmet that's made specifically for the type of skating you're going to be doing. Whether it's skateboarding or rollerblading, you need to make sure that it meets all standards and has a strong strap and buckle.
Shoes: If you're skateboarding, it can be tough on shoes. Make sure that you have a great pair of skateboarding shoes that are made specifically for skateboarding.
Pads & Wrist Guards: No matter what level of skater you are, wrist guards, elbow and knee pads are always recommended. Make sure these have a hard plastic shield and that they don't hinder your movements.
